Built around a real business need
A growing business can outgrow a collection of mobiles and forwarded numbers. Customers may not know whom to call, staff may share personal numbers and a change of office can disrupt the whole arrangement. A business phone system gives the team a shared structure, but it still needs good internet, sensible routing and a tested continuity plan.
What a considered setup can do
Make the right team reachable
Define departments, extensions and ring groups so calls have a clear destination.
Support flexible working
Assess suitable desk phones or software calling options for office and remote staff.
Keep hours consistent
Set business-hours and holiday behaviour explicitly, including the relevant Australian time zone.
Plan for interruptions
Agree what happens during internet loss, staff absence or a service outage, then test the fallback.

How we approach the work
01. Review the current system
List numbers, devices, users and internet requirements.
02. Design the call routes
Agree permissions, hours, voicemail and fallback behaviour.
03. Test before cutover
Check inbound and outbound calls, transfer paths and the changeover plan.
Compare the approach, not just the feature list
These are general decision points. The selected setup and capabilities are confirmed for your business.
| Approach | Useful when | What to consider |
|---|---|---|
| DU Cloud PBX | Several people need shared business call routes. | Check internet, number arrangements and continuity. |
| Separate mobiles | A very small team has simple calling needs. | Business identity and handovers can become fragmented. |
| Existing phone system | The current setup already meets your needs. | Review support, capacity and maintenance before changing it. |
Privacy and responsible use
We agree the information required, who can access it and the handling responsibilities before setup. Data hosting and retention depend on the selected configuration; Australian-only processing is not assumed.
For marketing messages, plan consent, sender identification and a functional unsubscribe process under the applicable spam rules. Outbound telemarketing also needs an assessment of Do Not Call Register requirements and relevant calling standards.
ACMA: spam and telemarketing guidance
Call recording requires a review of applicable laws and appropriate notices for the jurisdictions involved. Agree access and retention before enabling it.
AI workflows need approved boundaries and human escalation. Do not include unnecessary sensitive information or rely on an assistant for emergency or professional advice.

Questions worth asking
What is a cloud PBX?
It is a business phone system whose switching and routing are delivered through a hosted service. The exact devices, features and service terms depend on the agreed configuration.
Can we transfer our number?
Number transfer depends on eligibility and the current service. We review it before planning a cutover and do not cancel the existing service prematurely.
Do we need new handsets?
Not always. Existing device compatibility and software calling options need checking before equipment is ordered.
What happens if our internet fails?
The system needs an agreed continuity plan, such as a supported forwarding arrangement. Internet quality and fallback limitations are part of the assessment.
Are calls and emergency calling included?
Call inclusions, charges and emergency calling arrangements must be confirmed in the service terms. Do not assume a cloud service behaves exactly like a traditional landline.
